It takes more than a group of mandolin-loving musicians to keep the music flowing. There are the obvious expenses, like paying for music rights, composer commissions and hard goods like sheet music and CD recordings. Orchestra members donate their time for rehearsals but they take no cut in the income that might come from a performance, but we don’t ask our music director to work for free.
